Empathic, Understanding and Patient
I am a licensed psychotherapist, in practice for twenty years.
After getting my degree from New York University Silver School of Social Work, I continued to further my education with advanced training in trauma treatment, the effects of adoption on adult relationships, gay/lesbian issues, and family/couple’s therapy.
Everything I have done professionally has contributed to my success in counseling. My Masters Degree in Special Education, years as an educator, and author of fifteen non-fiction books as well as newspaper and magazine articles, have enriched my background and helped my patients.
My books have focused on people coping with life’s challenges, such as being adopted, living with a single parent, having a parent who is a substance abuser, and growing up with a disabled sibling. I have been interviewed on radio and television to share my insight on these topics.
Whether working with individuals or couples, I am sensitive and attuned to what each person is saying and experiencing. Patients tell me they are comfortable expressing their emotions with me and feel understood.
Feeling understood is basic to healing.
